Ready for the River brought Obie Award winning playwright Neal Bell and NYIT Award winning directer Edward Elefterion together again after their critically acclaimed 2008 collaboration, Shadow of Himself

The story begins when Doris witnesses her husband murder the banker who foreclosed on their farm. When he turns the gun on her, she grabs her daughter and hits the road hard, carving a path across the ravaged American heartland in an old Buick made of rust.

But some things they can’t outrun, like the banker’s shotgun-blasted face, semi-intact, in the backseat. Hunted by their past, terrified of their future, mother and daughter learn more about each other – and themselves – than they ever wanted to know.  When you’re running for your life and from your life, how far is far enough?
